The constant search and exploration of the unknown has always been an innate human need. A need that was met by a small portion of people who pioneered in their respective fields. Through experience, observation and research, the world around us gradually became known to the general public. The knowledge and experiences were imprinted in written speech and became knowledge that was passed on to the next generations.

Today’s technology has revolutionized the dissemination of information. Through animation, social media and traditional publications in magazines and books, knowledge continues to be transmitted in alternative ways. Our love for the unexplored seabed led us to engage in diving. The knowledge gained from our predecessors enabled us to safely engage in deeper and highly demanding dives.

Our experience in diving over the years have allowed us to become more active in the field of exploration with the Lavrion Mine Exploration Project. With the primary tool being video and photography, we capture unique images from the oldest mine in Greece and one of the oldest in the world. Our deeper involvement in the project combined with the ongoing knowledge we gain through research, allow us to better understand the great importance of this endeavor.

Our goal is to share our knowledge and actively participate in the promotion of a unique historical place. Through publications in international magazines and domestic websites, with our participation in Conferences and with the continuous disclosure of our results, we aspire to add a small piece to the future research of this unique place and to highlight exploratory diving in Greece.

We thank all those involved in this project and those who embraced us and shared our experiences of our exploration. Including three international publications who showed a particular interest in the Mine  Project which started in the summer of 2019. We look forward to publishing new exciting finds as the project further develops.
