He/O2 Analyser
Over 6 months of work has gone into the design, development and testing of the Trimix Analyser. After initial testing with cheap simple distance ultrasonic sensors an He/O2 analyser was constructed which could measure Helium by calculating the speed of sound that travels through the plastic tube, additionally the O2 through a simple galvanic sensor. Because of the limitations of the sensor in this first model it could only measure up to 50% of helium in the gas mix. An extra sensor cable port was also added at this stage for future use (potentially for an CO sensor). It has a push button for calibration and a second button for the expansion port.
The second updated and latest model now measures Helium and O2 levels at full range, up to 100% with an accuracy variation of just 1%. This was achieved after changing and upgrading the sensor to conductivity from ultrasonic, furthermore upgrades to the software, and extensive testing which was carried out both in the lab and on the field.
